Latest buzz doing the rounds in Kollywood is that actor Suriya is all set to work with "Mankatha" director Venkat Prabhu. The film might go on floors in April 2014.
Suriya, who is basking in the success of blockbuster film "Singam 2", has started working on his upcoming project with director Lingusamy. For the first time, the actor-director duo has teamed for a new film. The untitled venture, which will have Samantha as the female lead, is expected to be completed by March next year, after which Suriya will kick start his new film with Venkat Prabhu.
"It will be typical Venkat Prabhu film for Suriya, with his usual mix of fun and action. Talks are on, though nothing about the film is confirmed as yet. If things work out, Suriya might shoot for this film after Lingusamy's film. In the mean time, Venkat will also fine tune his script," a source told The Times of India.
The director has a hit track record with all his films turning out to be money spinners. He is currently waiting for the release of "Biriyani" on 20 December, which stars actor Karthi, who happens to be Suriya's brother.
While his first three films ("Chennai 28", "Saroja" and "Goa") did not have top stars, the director joined the big league with "Mankatha" starring Ajith in 2011. The film became one of the biggest hits of that year. Buzz is that the director recently met Suriya and told a "one-line" story. The "Singam 2" actor has been impressed with it and has reportedly given a positive reply to the director.
According to Indiaglitz, Venkat Prabhu will be ready with the complete script of new film after "Biriyani" hits the screens. The film will be reportedly produced by Suriya's newly launched production company 2D Entertainment.
If reports turn out to be true, it will be a real treat for Suriya's fans. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.
