Director Lingusamy has confirmed that his next film will feature Suriya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles.
Earlier, it was reported that Suriya would take up two projects - one with Lingusamy and the other with Gautham Vasudev Menon - after completing "Singam 2." The film with Gautham Menon titled "Dhruva Natchathiram" is said to have been delayed due to technical glitches.
It was also reported that Suriya had opted out of Lingusamy's film, owing to issues in the storyline but the director has refuted the reports, confirming that he is working with Suriya in his next directorial venture, which is set to commence in August. Samantha, who won the filmfare award for best actor (female) in Tamil and Telugu, will be seen sharing screen space with Suriya. The film will be an romantic-action entertainer and its music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
"The shoot of my Suriya film is starting in the last week of August. It is a romantic story laced with action. Samantha is the heroine and rest of the cast is being finalised. Yuvan has already given me one of the five songs," Lingusamy told Sify.
"We will be starting the shoot in Bangalore and Mysore and then moving on to Chennai and Ramoji Rao studios in Hyderabad," he added.
For the first time, Suriya is teaming up with Lingusamy, a popular commercial director with several hit films to his credit, including "Sandakozhi", "Paiyaa" and "Vettai." Even before the new film starts rolling, rumours about Suriya's role have been doing the rounds.
Buzz is that Suriya will play the role of a doctor in the first half. Life changing instances would later turn him into a cop in the second half. If the reports are to be believed, then it would be his fourth film after "Kaakha Kaakha", "Singam" and "Singam 2" in which he would appear as a righteous police officer. Interestingly, all his cop films have done good business at the box office. The yet-to-be-titled film with Lingu is also expected to be a commercial entertainer that would satisfy his fans.
