Actor Suriya has denied a report published in a Malaysian daily that he had demanded money to be part of a religious event.
In a statement, Suriya has also claimed he has no clue about the event. The actor said nobody had approached him to attend the function.
Suriya pointed out that he would never attend a caste-based gathering as an actor, and warned those who misuse his name and spread false news about him.
Suriya busy with "S3"
The actor is currently busy with his much-hyped film "S3," which is the third instalment in the "Singam" franchise. The shooting of the flick is progressing at a brisk pace and the film is on track to hit the screens for Diwali 2016. The movie unit will be travelling to Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia to shoot important sequences soon.
The Hari-directorial has Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan as the female leads. Nasser, Vivekh, Soori, Robo Shankar, Chaams, Krish and others are in the supporting cast. There were reports that Suriya's younger brother Karthi will put in a guest appearance in the film. But the "Paiyaa" star has now denied the news.
Meanwhile, "24" has turned out to be a hit at the box office. The film, which is made with a budget of Rs. 70 crore, has Samantha and Nithya Menen as the female leads. It had been written and directed by Vikram Kumar and produced by Suriya himself under his home banner of 2D Entertainment.
