Narayan Sai, son of controversial godman Asaram Bapu, has reportedly shaved-off his head and beard to conceal identity from police authorities.
A devotee of the self-styled godman Asaram Bapu has revealed that the absconding Narayan Sai had visited him at his house in Agra and stayed for a night.
Laxman Sewkani told IndiaTv that Sai has shaved his head and dresses in just saffron robes to avoid being caught by the Gujarat Police.
Asaram and his son have both been accused in a sexual assault case by two sisters from Surat in Gujarat. Since the FIR was lodged, Sai has been on the run despite a lookout notice issued against him, barring him from escaping abroad.
Moreover, Sewkani was asked to arrange a fake SIM card for Sai by his associate but the devotee refused and asked the godman's son to leave the house.
On Monday, Surat Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shobha Bhutada filed a complaint alleging that she received threat calls from Asaram's supporters for pursuing the investigation in the sexual assault cases against the father-son duo.
"Shobha Bhutada received a threatening phone call saying she should stop looking for Asaram's son Narayan Sai or she would be shot. The mobile number used is registered to a Dashrat Singh in MP," Inspector CK Patel told ANI.
A Surat court is scheduled to hear Sai's anticipatory bail plea on Monday.
To which the official account maintained by Asaram's ashram retaliated saying, "Surat DCP gets threat 3days bck but comes to media on day of Narayan Sai bail hearings.Media trying to manipulate judiciary now #Asaram Bapu." They further blamed the media of raising a 'ploy' against Narayan Sai and Asaram Bapu.
Meanwhile, a local court remanded an aide of Asaram's fugitive son - Dharmendra Pariyar, alias Dharmesh - till 24 October on Sunday in connection with the sexual assault case.
The Supreme Court has cautioned media houses to report responsibly on the pending criminal cases against Asaram and his son.
