"Kochadaiyaan" is Rajinikanth's most-anticipated movie as the film would get released three years after the actor's last blockbuster movie "Robot" (Endhiran) with Aishwarya Rai.
"Kochadaiyaan" features Deepika Padukone alongside Rajinikanth. This is the first film in India to use state-of-art motion capturing techniques in 3D, in the likes of Hollywood movies such as "Avatar" and "The Adventure of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn".
The film's crew is currently busy with post-production work. Earlier reports had emerged that the movie is set for a July release, though there was no official word on it. The release date would likely be announced by the end of May.
"Kochadaiyaan" has been in the news ever since the film went on floors last year. Firstly, it is a Rajinikanth film - The actor' name is enough to generate a lot of hype about his movies. Secondly, it is a comeback of sorts for the superstar post his illness for which he took treatment in Singapore. The actor took a two-year hiatus before commencing his shoots for "Kochadaiyaan".
Thirdly, the movie is directed by Rajinikanth's second daughter who is making her debut with this film. Fourthly, the film is being promoted as India's first 3D film.
Latest buzz is that the superstar will attend the Cannes Film Festival in France for the first time to launch the trailer of "Kochadaiyaan". If the reports are to be believed, India's two biggest stars - Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan - would be seen together at the Cannes festival to promote their respective movies. Amitabh is making his Hollywood debut with "The Great Gatsby". He will unveil his movie during the film festival.
The superstar of Tamil cinema will reportedly feature in a double role of father and son in his film. While the father is Kochadaiyaan (a loyal commander to the emperor), the son is Rana. Besides the lead pair, the rest of the film's cast includes Jackie Shroff, Nassar, Aadhi and Sarath Kumar playing significant roles.
Oscar winner AR Rahman will compose the score for "Kochadaiyaan". The movie is jointly produced by Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment.
