Supernatural Season 14 spoilers: Dean Winchester is the main villain; will he die?

Dean Winchester's (Jensen Ackles) has been taken over by arch angel Michael and there's no going back. He is now (by default) the central antagonist of Supernatural Season 14. 

Talking to TV Line, co-showrunner Andrew Dabb said that Ackles playing the "Big Bad" this year has taken the pressure off of the creators. The star knows the show, characters and is comfortable in the new role, which makes things a lot easier. 

"This is an actor who everyone loves, who knows exactly what the show is, who knows exactly who he is, who knows exactly [and] very smartly how to approach this character. So it's really given us, like instantly, a great bad guy, which is kind of obvious, but it's something where you're like, 'Oh, wow, that's really, really cool," Dabb added. 

But, every new idea has its fair share of roadblocks (if we can call it that). With Dean gone and the show being mostly about Sam and Dean's camaraderie, the writers' team is finding it difficult to piece everything together.   

What's good is, others get some breathing room now. Bobby, Mary, Castiel, and Jack haven't been explored fully. And now, that the focus is off the Winchester brothers, it should be easy to highlight these supporting characters.

What to expect from Supernatural 14?

There's going to be an interesting 300th episode, where (the makers have promised) we will get to see the brothers how others see them. A different perspective, as it were. 

"We've never actually seen what these people in this town think of these two guys who drive this muscle car through. The dry cleaner [must think], 'They have a lot of blood on their clothes. What's going on there?," Dabb explained when asked about what to expect from the milestone episode at the recently-concluded San Diego Comic Con.

What's more, Dean is going to have a tough time fighting Michael. Whether he's able to outlive him or not is a story for another time, but the creators say Dean battling his inner demon (literally) will make for some of the best scenes of the show. 

Supernatural Season 14 is scheduled to return on October 11.
