It looks like DC and Warner Bros are warming up to the idea of featuring some of their cinematic superhero characters on their TV shows. So after a full season of teasing and several mentions, Superman will finally appear in Season 2 of "Supergirl."
On Monday, June 6, The CW announced that Superman will make his grand debut in the first two episodes of "Supergirl" Season 2, where he will be seen visiting his cousin Kara, played by Melissa Benoist. Following the announcement, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg shared his excitement: (via the Hollywood Reporter)
"Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl, Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!"
Casting for the role of TV's Man of Steel is under way but, according to ComicBookMovie, several fans are expecting the network to bring back The CW's former Superman, Tom Welling, who played the role in "Smallville."
Well, it remains to be seen how the casting unfolds. But Superman's appearance on the TV show is bound to open some doors for other showrunners to feature more iconic DC characters, may be like Bruce Wayne/ Batman on "Arrow," on their superhero shows.
