Super typhoon Meranti has been hitting the southern Taiwan city of Kaohsiung hard, as powerful winds damage building and topple trees. Motorists have also been caught in the storm power as the video shows a taxi driver having to come the aid of a scooter rider after being knocked over and a biker being easily tipped by the strong winds. Kaohsiung was forced to close all schools and government buildings on 14 September, and it is reported that 200,000 homes are without power.
