Typhoon Haima left the Philippines late on Thursday and has now moved into the South China Sea. It is said to be the most powerful cyclone causing damage in the country in the last three years.Northern areas of the main island of Luzon, particularly Cagayan and Isabela provinces, where the typhoon came ashore about midnight Wednesday, remained without electricity. Communications were patchy.
