Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan is all set to perform along with American singer Beyonce and some other international celebrities at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival on Saturday, 26 September.
The event will be held at Central Park in New York and Sunidhi is the only performer to represent India.
"I had butterflies in my stomach when I heard that I am the only person representing India at the event. This is a proud moment for me and I will give it my best. It's exciting to perform in front of so many people," The Times of India quoted Sunidhi as saying.
Expressing her excitement, Sunidhi said, "I am a huge fan of Beyonce. I have flown internationally quite often to see her live in action. Now, I will perform on the same stage. It's an awesome feeling."
Aimed at encouraging steps to end poverty by 2030, Global Citizen Festival will witness performances by Beyonce, Sunidhi Chauhan, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Pearl Jam.
At first, Sunidhi could not believe that she had actually got an invitation to perform at the event. "I got a call from Chris Martin (Coldplay singer) who introduced himself saying, 'Hi Sunidhi, I am Chris Martin from Coldplay. I am very fond of your music and your voice and want you to perform at the festival.' At first, I refused to believe him but later, I realised it was actually him," said Sunidhi.
Sunidhi will have a 10-minute-long act and it will be a medley of her four songs.
