League leaders Chelsea will be looking to continue their unbeaten run and extend the gap at the top of the Premier League table when they take on bottom place team Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Chelsea have been in phenomenal form this season winning their last nine games in the Premier League and with the form that Chelsea are in at the moment it does not look like any team can stop them.
Despite Sunderland sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, they have shown signs of improvement in their last few games defeating the likes of Leicester City, Hull City and Bournemouth. They suffered a humiliating defeat over the weekend at the hands of Swansea and manager David Moyes will be hoping for a good response when Chelsea visit them.
Sunderland boss David Moyes is hopeful that his side can recreate the same atmosphere from the last season, which saw Sunderland emerge as surprise 3-2 winners over Chelsea.
"We were on a good run and we wanted to keep it going. It wasn't to be. We're now back at home and we'll try to pick points up. People will try and find a way of beating Chelsea's system, but it's not just the system - they have real quality players. If we can get an atmosphere like last season against Chelsea it will give us every chance and it would be terrific" BBC quoted the Sunderland manager as saying.
The big blow for Sunderland will be the absence of central midfielder Didier Ndong who will miss the match through suspension. Jack Rodwell, Lee Cattermole, Duncan Watmore and Lyndon Gooch will all miss this match through various injuries.
Since Chelsea lost 3-0 at the hands of Arsenal, they have been flawless. They did have a little scare over the weekend against West Bromwich where they had to really fight for the three points, but Diego Costa once again stepped up and delivered. Chelsea will likely field the same starting 11 with no injury concern for Antonio Conte.
Despite Chelsea's current form, Antonio Conte feels his side will have to work hard against Sunderland.
"We all know Sunderland are at the bottom of the table, but if you look at the last five games you can see Sunderland are fifth in the table. They took nine points and for this reason it's important to pay great attention, to be focused, and to be concentrated from the start of the game until the end. I know this league and it's very tough to win every game. To have nine wins in a row is fantastic. I hope to continue this" the Chelsea manager was quoted as saying.
