Facebook page of India Against Corruption on Saturday made public a letter written by Additional Commissioner (New Delhi) K C Dwiwedi to Team Anna asking for fresh undertakings from Team Anna on the dharna which is going to be staged on Sunday at Jantar Mantar.
The letter dated Aug 23rd warns Team Anna against unlawful act by citing team Anna’s violation of laws during their previous protest at Jantar Mantar.
"Violation of its provisions will attract legal action and will be against the conditions of the undertaking to be furnished by the organizer. It is, therefore, incumbent upon you to advise your organization to desist from indulging in any unlawful act which may disturb law and order," Dwiwedi wrote.
The letter addressed to Neeraj Kumar, the organizer of India Against Corruption, said the Delhi police need a fresh undertaking from somebody from the organization who can exercise control over the crowd participating in Dharna. The letter also said that the residences of the Prime Minister and Nidhin Gadkari’s fall under the section 144CrPC and violation of laws in this area during gherao will be taken into notice and invite legal actions.
“The media also reports that Mr. Arvind Kejriwal has given a call for gherao of the residences of the PM and Nitin Gadkari (BJP President) by the participants of the dharna proposed to be held on 26.08.2012. The entire area of New Delhi Police district except parts of the Janatar Mantar & the Parliament Street is under Sec. 144 CrPC till 07.09.2012,” said Dwiwedi.
Meanwhile, Press Trust of India reported that BJP President Nitin Gadkari is leaving for Canada on Saturday night for a two-week holiday. This would dampen down the gherao called by Arvind Kejriwal for Sunday.
