Salman Khan beat Shah Rukh Khan to emerge as the most-loved star of April 2016. The list, which has been compiled using statistics from an Ormax Media survey, features actors from last month, but also has a new entrant.
Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn and Sunny Deol have filled up the top 10 slots. The Ormax SIL (Stars India Loves) survey has a sample size of 3,300 across 29 cities.
Salman has been making headlines for the power-packed teasers and posters of "Sultan." The sports-drama, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, follows the life of Haryana-based wrestler Sultan Ali Khan and his many battles of life. Anushka Sharma, who trained with professionals to get the "dhobi pachchaad" move right, will essay the role of Sultan's love interest, Aarfa.
Scheduled to release on Eid, July 7, "Sultan" is a welcome change from what the superstar has been indulging in for past few years. He stuck to formula films for long, but with this one he is experimenting. Obviously he'll be shirtless and hot, but will also flaunt his acting skills.
In other news, Salman will begin work on Kabir Khan's next, "Tubelight," which may or may not star Deepika Padukone. According to reports, the film will be shot across Ladakh and arrive in theatres next Eid. Rumour has it the team is looking at roping in a Chinese actress.
Salman also has Rajkumar Santoshi's film in the pipeline. The actor-director duo has apparently been meeting up regularly to fine tune the script.
