The big release this week, or probably this year, is Salman Khan's "Sultan." Opening on Eid (July 6), "Sultan" is expected for a terrific opening and later prove to be a chartbuster at the box office.
"Sultan," also starring Anushka Sharma in the lead role, has already recorded phenomenal opening day and five-day long weekend occupancy, thanks to the unprecedented advance booking response.
Considering that it is Salman-starrer movie and being released on Eid, expectations are high whether the film will shatter the opening day, opening weekend and first-week box office collection records or not. The comparison between "Sultan" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is also high, as the latter was released on Eid last year and emerged as the highest grosser for Salman.
But apart from breaking "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" records, there are other records that "Sultan" needs to shatter to emerged as the biggest blockbuster hit of all time. We list out three big records that "Sultan" needs to break:
Highest Opening Day Collection Of "Happy New Year:" Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" still holds the record for the biggest opening day collection with an income of approximately Rs. 44.97 crore.
Highest Opening Weekend Collection Of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP): Released on a long Diwali weekend in 2015, Salman's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" earned Rs. 129.77 crore. Now it remains to be seen whether "Sultan" will break the record of "PRDP" or not.
Highest First Week Collection Of "Dhoom 3:" Last year, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" failed to beat the records of "Dhoom 3" first-week collection. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" earned Rs. 184.62 crore, while "Dhoom 3" remains on top with Rs. 188.99 crore in gross collection. Now all eyes are set on "Sultan" to emerge as the biggest first week grosser of all time.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, "Sultan" will be released on July 6 worldwide. The film, produced by Yash Raj Films, also features Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.
