USA Network's legal drama Suits is in its eighth season and nothing seems to have moved forward in the relationship between Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty) and Harvey Spectre (Gabriel Macht). Their equation is palpable and therefore, fans want to see them together.
Recently, TV Line threw a question to its readers if the makers should work toning down their chemistry considering the Harvey-Donna story isn't moving in any direction. The portal asked: "If Suits' Harvey and Donna want us to believe that they don't have the hots for each other, maybe they should tone down the flirting about strawberries and whipped cream?"
The answers were divided. While some strongly believe that it's the mysterious equation that makes Suits watchable, others are of the opinion that Donna should be given bigger storylines.
Creator Aaron Krosh, however, seems determined to keep their on-and-off relationship as is. "The push and the pull that they have with each other, no matter where it ends, is not finished. It's not finished in the long [run]," he told TV Line earlier this year.
But, he didn't dim the hopes of the many Darvey fans out there. In a Twitter interaction, Krosh teased the idea that there would be scenes between the two that no one would have thought of. Looks like there's still hope for a Donna-Harvey paradise.
While Season 7 was closing, the almost-love birds shared a kiss just to figure out if things would work out between them. Ever since, there have been instances where they have just exchanged light, playful remarks. And this has gotten on the wrong side of most fans, who, clearly want more from their favourite couple.
A fan even wrote on TV Line's story: "I feel like darvey are secretly together this season, there is a definite ease with their interactions . The chemistry between them is off the charts and was especially evident in 805."
In other news, Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) and Mike Ross' (Patrick J. Adams) exit from the show has made a huge impact on the show's popularity. According to numbers shared by Fox, Suits' viewership is down by 50 per cent since season 5. Post-Markle exit, it has managed an average of 1.2 million viewers per episode as compared to Season 7's 1.3 million.
However, with Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull) being upgraded to a series regular and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl) going toe-to-toe with Harvey, there's still a chance for Suits to restore itself. Also, there's Alex Williams (Dule Hill) now, who is being considered as a potential Ross-replacer.
The show will release its season finale sometime late-October to Early November.
