"Suicide Squad" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will undoubtedly be the biggest launches for DC Comics and Warner Bros. in 2016. And now, speculations are rife about how the two films may be interconnected through possible cameos. The latest buzz revolves around Henry Cavill's Superman appearing in "Suicide Squad".
We already know through Comic Con trailer and leaked images from the sets of "Suicide Squad" that Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in the DC comics' film. It does make sense because the film revolves around his biggest rival, The Joker (Jared Leto). Rumours are strong that Lex Luthor may make an appearance too.
It is now being speculated if "Man of Steel" will also show up. Though "Suicide Squad" revolves around a team of supervillains, Henry Cavill said that there's a huge possibility that Superman from "Batman v Superman" could appear in the sequel.
In an interview with Metro, when Henry was asked whether the fans will get to see Superman's cameo in "Suicide Squad" or not, the actor said a firm "no" but hinted that he may appear in a sequel. "I might be!" he teased.
Given that DC and Warner Bros. have a tie-up planned until 2020, it's quite possible that Henry Cavill will be signed up for a multiple-film contract and Superman may pop up in the future "Suicide Squad" film, if any.
Meanwhile, Movie Web has highlighted why it doesn't make sense for Superman to appear in the current "Suicide Squad" storyline. The website pointed out that the events in "Suicide Squad" is far (time-frame) from the plot of "Batman v Superman". It's suspected that the events in "Suicide Squad" take place sometime between 2013's "Man of Steel" and next year's "Batman v Superman".
Whether he will even be mentioned, let aside appearance, in the film will be revealed only when "Suicide Squad" releases on 5 August, 2016. Superman fans are waiting to watch their favourite superhero in action when "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" releases on 25 March, 2016.
