At least four security personnel were killed in the latest suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan, Afghan security officials have confirmed on Wednesday, 16 November. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban has intensified its strikes in the country over the past week.
The latest incident follows two similar attacks by the militant outfit in different parts of Afghanistan earlier.
The security personnel were killed when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive near the Afghan defence ministry compound in Kabul. Around 11 others were injured in the attack, some security officials told the Associated Press.
Reuters quoted Najib Danish, a spokesman for the interior ministry, as saying that the suicide bomber was riding a motorbike at the time of the incident.
The suicide bomber was on a motorbike and detonated himself in the Pul Mahmood Khan area (in Kabul). The target is unclear but there were casualties, he said.
Just four days ago on 12 November, at least four people were reported dead and more than a dozen injured when a Taliban suicide bomber attacked a Nato air base at Bagram in Afghanistan. The Taliban also attacked the German consulate in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, killing at least four and injuring more than 100 on 10 November.
The previous week, two US soldiers died fighting Taliban terrorists in Afghanistans Kunduz province. Two others were reported injured.
