'Subramanyam For Sale' overseas box office collection: 'SFS' grosses Rs 84.79 lakh in 4 days

"Subramanyam For Sale" (SFS) featuring Sai Dharam Tej and Regina Cassandra in the leads, seems to have been rejected by the audience in the USA as it has done average collection in its opening weekend.

"Subramanyam for Sale" is one of the few Telugu movies released in over 100 screens in the USA in 2015. Classics Entertainments, which has earlier released blockbuster movies like "Srimanthudu", "Lingaa" and "S/o Satyamurthy" in the country, has distributed the movie.

Classics Entertainments has released "Subramanyam for Sale" in over 130 cinema halls in the country. It is a record in screen count for a Telugu movie, especially for a young actor like Sai Dharam Tej, for whom this is the biggest release in Tollywood.

A day before its release, "Subramanyam for Sale" was premiered at several locations across the country and received lukewarm response. Its collections slowly grew on the following days, but still fell short of expectations. 

"Subramanyam for Sale" has grossed approximately $128,394 (Rs 84.79 lakh) from 76 screens at the USA box office in its four-day extended first weekend, according to Bollywood Hungama. Its per-screen average stands at $1689.

On Sunday, India's film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Telugu film #SubramanyamForSale - USA: Wed+Thu $ 29,882, Fri $ 32,553, Sat $ 46,638. Total: $ 109,073 [₹ 72.17 lacs]. @RentrakIndia."

The overseas distribution rights of "Subramanyam for Sale" were sold for a whopping Rs 1.1 crore and the movie has been able to recover Rs 43 lakh for its distributors in the first weekend. The film needs to do better business on the weekdays to recover the investment, as it cannot face the competition with next week's big-ticket releases like "Puli", "Singh is Bling" and "Shivam".
