Much to the delight of fans eagerly looking forward to any news regarding the second season of their favourite sci-fi series, "Stranger Things," Netflix has confirmed renewal of the series.
"Stranger Things" has been anticipated as one of the best Netflix series of all times as Season 1 was equally praised both by critics and fans. The first instalment left several questions unanswered and fans surely can't wait for more.
Some of the most burning questions left unanswered in Season 1 were the fate of Eleven as she was seemingly killed while trying to destroy the Demogorgon and the origins of the mysterious monster and the other world where he lived.
Set in early 1980s, Season 1 followed the unexpected and surprising adventures of three kids who met a mysterious girl with telekinetic powers. The girl helped them to find their lost friend, Will Byers, who was trapped in an alternate reality, known as the Upside Down.
Helping the boys on the rescue mission was police chief Hopper (David Harbour) and Will's mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder). As the story moved forward, new layers of the dark secret behind Will's disappearance kept unfolding, leading all of them to a clue that left them shocked.
Though the synopsis and plot of the upcoming season has not been revealed yet, several rumours state that Season 2 will see a sick Will unintentionally infecting the town with a slug-like parasite and the incident will lead to more troubles soon.
"Stranger Things" Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2017, though the exact air date is still to be announced by Netflix and the show's producers. The next season will consist of nine episodes instead of the eight episodes in Season 1.
The teaser of Season 2 has revealed that the story will take place in 1984. It also showcases the name of possible episodes from the second season.
The Duffer brothers will return to write the script. As reported by Variety, they have said that there will a much more expanded universe in Season 2 compared to Season 1.
