The popular Netflix show, Stranger Things, starring Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown, has got a renewal for a brand new season.
As they captivated the audiences with first season, the show has revealed the confirmation about season 2 by releasing a trailer. Creator Matt Duffer said: "Season 1 actually takes place over the course of six or seven days - it's a really short period of time.
"So part of what we want to do with hypothetical (yeah right) Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."
Netflix assured that the second season consists of nine episodes is due to release on Netflix within the first half of 2017. The filming of season 2 has already started on the sets in Atlanta.
It has also been confirmed that Dacre Montgomery and Sadie Sink will be seen in the upcoming season. The duo will play a pair of mysterious siblings, where Montgomery will portray the role of Billy, an older brother to Max. The character of Max will be played by Sadie Sink. Billy's character is described as an egoistic bad boy who is also aggressive and unpredictable.
Besides that, Netflix also confirmed an additional three characters for the series — Linnea Berthelsen, Sean Astin and Paul Reiser, to enhance the overall charm of the show. A report of TV Line has also confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown will be returning as Eleven.
Recently an official season 2 logline posted online, that says, "When terrifying supernatural forces once again begin to affect Hawkins, they realize Will's disappearance was only the beginning."
Executive Producer Shawn Levy explained that the new season will be less as a second season and more as a sequel. "The plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season," he told SlashFilm.
"Things end up being resolved to some extent at the end of Season 1, but not entirely. And that's why we're so hopeful we get another few seasons to live with these people a little longer."
As the Daily Mail reports, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard were spotted for the first time on the Atlanta set of Stranger Things during the shooting of season 2. Natalia Dyer, who plays Mike's (Finn Wolfhard) older sister Nancy, was also seen on the set.
Though 12-year-old Millie Bobby Brown was not seen on the set but fans should not be afraid about that Eleven won't be returning. Earlier this month the show's directing duo Duffer brothers shared an upside down black and white picture of the first table reading of the second season script where Millie was front and centre on it.
