In a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Matarazzo dropped some hints about the forthcoming season. He said that the new season will be action-packed and there will be more about the Upside Down.
Matarazzo said, "There are some new stories coming in that you're gonna want to hear about if there is a Season 3. Also, we got another cliffhanger in there for ya, so that's gonna be exciting."
Previously in an interview with PEOPLE, Matarazzo (Dustin) said, "The great thing about this season is you get to see insights into each character on their own. You're going to see a lot more into the lives of how the characters are coping with what's been going on."
"I think they're all very emotionally scarred. They feel alone because their best friend [Will] is back and he's not acting like their best friend anymore. He's changed," he added.
Stranger Thins season 2 will be darker as the series takes place a year after Eleven's battle with the Demogorgon. The teaser clip which was released during the Superbowl showed best friends Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) riding their bicycles decked out in Ghostbusters jumpsuits. Also, the series co-creator Matt Duffer earlier revealed that Will will have trouble telling the mysterious truth after his traumatic experience.
The cast of the series includes Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin. The second season of Stranger Things will premiere on Halloween, October 21.
