One of the greatest footballers of the world, Steven Gerard called it a day last month, and there were speculations about his immediate future then. Now it has been reported that the Liverpool legend has been given a role at the club's academy. Such kind of news does not come as a huge surprise as Gerrard had made 710 appearances for Liverpool. He left the club in 2015, and played in the MLS.
Ever since his retirement from football, Gerrard has been a regular in watching Liverpool's games of late, from the stands, reflecting his passion and support for the club.
Gerrard, as it seems, was not keen on jumping the gun to take a managerial position without any top-class experience. The former England captain was approached for a managerial role by MK Dons, but he decided to turn the offer down, stating it was too early.
The Mirror reported that Gerrard gave ears to current manager Jurgen Klopp's advice and decided to take up the role at the academy.
Gerrard seems to have taken a wise call, as he can play an important role in helping the youngsters in the academy. Being a product of the Reds' youth set up, he knows what it takes to graduate from an academy to the senior team, as he had taken the same route with some huge success.
