Actor Steve Carell was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on Thursday 7 January. Carell, who was accompanied by his family and actors Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell, thanked fans for turning out to support him on an usually rainy Los Angeles morning.
Carell also posed for photographers with his The Big Short co-star Gosling, and the films director, Adam McKay.
Carell initially was known as a comedy actor and became a household name after he played Michael Scott in the US version of the hit British mockumentary The Office. The show become one of NBCs biggest critical hits. He also starred in popular comedies such as Little Miss Sunshine, Anchorman and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Recently, Carell has been taking more serious movie roles to high acclaim. in 2015, he was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for his creepy turn in Foxcatcher, playing John du Pont, a millionaire who starts his own wrestling team with tragic results. He is up for the Golden Globe award for best actor in a comedy for his role in The Big Short, which tells the story of the financial crash and the reasons behind it. The Golden Globes takes place on Sunday 10 January in Hollywood.
