Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi is likely to be released in next few months and speculations on potential storylines are doing the rounds on the internet. Since most of plot rumours are directly related to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and villainous character Kylo Ren, let's dig into the details.
The poster and teaser trailer of the movie, released during the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, triggered several rumours about the journey of Mark Hamill's character to the dark side and it strengthened after some leaked details about his new necklace surfaced online.
The franchise fans claimed that the ornament indicates that Luke Skywalker is a Grey Jedi, as it has the Darth Vader Kyber crystal and will guide him to the dark side. Some of the fan theories also suggested a lightsaber fight between the Jedi Master and Kylo Ren in Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

"If Luke Skywalker has the last Darth Vader Kyber crystal, someone like Kylo Ren would really want it. I don't know why Luke Skywalker doesn't just destroy it. But he would clearly see that someone as into symbolism as Kylo Ren would be even more of a monster if he possessed it," stated a fansite called Making Star Wars.
However, Canadian author Pablo Hidalgo shut down the rumours about Darth Vader Kyber crystal during an interaction with the franchise fans on Twitter. Although he stated that The Sith Lord would have the lightsaber in his TIE fighter, he revealed that it fell down the DS2 reactor and got destroyed. The author also clarified that there is no Grey Jedi symbol code in The Last Jedi teaser trailer.

But the poster of Star Wars VIII portrays the Jedi Master's face in red representing the dark side. The prominence of the image also indicates that he is the new villain, who will defeat Adam Driver's character to become the loyal servant of Supreme Leader Snoke.
Even Hamill himself teased his character's journey to the dark side during the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando and stated that anything is possible in the galaxy far far away. So, speculations are rife that Luke Skywalker will kill Kylo Ren towards the end of Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.
