After "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" last year, fans were eagerly waiting for news regarding the upcoming instalment of the franchise – "Star Wars: Rogue One." it seems that their wait is finally over.
According to Movie Pilot, "Rogue One" has been termed as the darkest Star Wars movie yet, which will show the unseen and unheard side of the war between Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire. The new trailer of "Rogue One" is out and it looks as promising as has been expected from the movie.
In the trailer, Jin Erso's Rebel team can be seen fighting the Galactic Empire as Darth Vader's black-clad Troopers are engaged in a battle with the Rebel forces. The iconic Rebel leader who appeared in "Return of the Jedi," Mon Mothma, can also be seen assisting the Rebels in the trailer.
However, the biggest surprise of the trailer is a familiar, ominous sound that every Star Wars fan is aware of – the breathing of Darth Vader. Though it seems like Vader's iconic breathing, the sound appears feebly for a brief period of time.
According to Comic Book Resources, "Rogue One" is the first film in new "Star Wars" anthology trilogy and tells the tale of a Rebel group that is on a secret mission to steal the plans of Death Star, which was first seen in "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope."
The trailer features Jyn (Felecity Jones), a forger and thief, who joins Mon Mothma's Rebel group on a mission to discover the secret plans behind Empire's latest weapon of mass destruction.
The movie has been directed by Gareth Edwards of "Godzilla" and "Monsters" fame while the script has been written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz. Besides Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, and Alan Tudyk will also star in "Rogue One."
"Star Wars: Rogue One" is scheduled to release Dec. 16, 2016, in the United States.
