Season 3 of "Star Wars Rebels" will explore the story of Ghost Crew as it will continue on the journey to its third chapter, scheduled to air in the second half of this year.
Among the new plot elements, the most important one will be re-introduction of Darth Maul in the upcoming season, which surely hints something significant in the third season's story arc.
Darth Maul made his last appearance in "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace," where Obi-Wan Kenobi killed him in a battle and pushed him into a dark pit. However, it seems Maul is all set to make a spectacular comeback with the new season of "Rebels."
Fans might have something more than Maul to look forward to. According to Vine Report, series creator Dave Feloni has hinted that Darth Vader might get to battle Maul in Season 3. In an interview, Feloni has said that what prompted him to bring back Maul is his desire to see him duel Darth Vader, who the Emperor replaced him with.
Hence, even though it is not yet confirmed, there is a significant possibility that viewers will get to see two powerful agents of the Dark Side clash.
Feloni also talked about Maul's plans to IGN. In an interview with the website, he said: "I think that that's a particularly interesting thing. Maul obviously has been somehow keeping tabs on what's going on in the galaxy and probably wishes he was more a part of it."
Vine Report has also said Maul might be planning to take control of more of Kanan's apprentices and turn them towards the Dark Side after luring Ezra to the Dark Side in previous season.
According to the website, Feloni said: "That's another bit of wonderful story, which is: What has Maul been up to? How did Maul get on this desolate planet?"
Whether Maul will recruit more apprentices or will implement other strategies, will become apparent once "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 airs.
