Grand Admiral Thrawn won't be the only villain in the latest episode, titled "Steps into Shadow," of "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3. According to recent reports, another primary antagonist will be introduced in the series.
The Season 3 premiere will see the introduction of a new character, known as Bendu, who doesn't belong to either Sith or Jedi. Nevertheless, Bendu is as skilled with the ways of Force as any other Sith or Jedi.
The description of Bendu, as mentioned by Crave Online, reads: "Bendu is a 'giant creature that helps to establish a deeper connection between the blinded Kanan and the Force.' Bendu lies in the grey area of the Force, being neither pure evil nor good."
Though the giant has no affiliation with Siths or Jedis, reports state that he will appear as a villain and fight against the Rebel forces. It is not yet confirmed whether Bendu will serve as an ally of Thrawn or will be a solo villain.
Meanwhile, Darth Maul is also set to return. In a recently-released clip by IGN on the eve of "Star Wars" Celebration 2016, a blind Kanan can be seen, accompanying an older Ezra as both of them face Maul once again. However, Maul seems to be dominating the two as he can be seen closing the doors on them as they are sucked into the space.
Though fans are looking forward to watch Thrawn taking over the evil crown in the upcoming season, Darth Maul will surely bring his own impact on the show as he is one of the most iconic Star Wars villains of all times.
Several rumours have also hinted that Maul will be fighting Darth Vader in the upcoming season. However, Dave Filoni, the Executive Producer and Co-creator of "Star Wars Rebels," has said that the fight between these two has never occurred to him. Nevertheless, Filoni has stated that he is open to the idea, much to the delight of the fans.
"Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 Episode 1 will be aired on Sept. 24 on Disney XD.
