An enormous lit-up sphere resembling the Death Star from Star Wars was spotted by NBC on top of the roof of a house in California on 12 November.
The home owner in Lafayette, California built the 23ft tall Death Star Battle Station on top of his house, local media reported, to mark the Halloween holidays and in an anticipation of the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which features original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, in a new adventure set 30 years after 1983s Return of the Jedi. The 400lb decoration was lifted onto the roof with a crane, Make magazine added.
Star Wars, created by filmmaker George Lucas, has grossed more than $4.4bn (£2.89bn) globally since 1977 with six films. The Force Awakens is the first of three new Star Wars movies produced by Disney since it purchased Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.05bn.
