The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premiere is fast approaching, and while we impatiently wait for the same, the only solace is in piecing together the small snippets of information that we have gathered since Episode VII was announced.
The latest updates we have received are regarding the Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver. The former is so extremely and uniquely alien-ish that he had to be created using motion capture, and we are yet to hear about how the Supreme Leader looks.
We do know that Snoke is the puppet-master that steered Kyle in the "dark" direction. However, every else about him is a mystery, from his looks to his history. He could be a "two-storey-tall giant" or a "floating spectre" who will remain the Big Bad for the next few films.
Many fans are also comparing him to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the scheming, powerful and evil Naboo leader who later became Darth Sidious, the Lord of the Sith. Snoke, although a villain, reportedly comes across as vulnerable, scarred and disfigured.
He is the one that seduced Kylo Ren to the dark side and is very important to the upcoming stories from the Galaxy far, far away. Kylo on the hand, is also not the ideal villain you would assume him to be. Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan has said that Adam Driver's Ren is someone Star Wars fans have never seen before.
Although he seems like the quintessential bad guy, he too has a moral compass and a right-and-wrong; even if they don't work properly.
"When they think their actions are morally justified it makes them dangerous and unpredictable. There's no level they won't go to accomplish what they're after. I never thought of the character as an evil person," Slashfilm quotes Driver as saying.
