The search for Mr Spock is finally over! American actor Ethan Peck will play the iconic role of Spock in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery.
CBS has announced that the half human and half Vulcan role will be played by Gregory Peck's grandson who had also starred in the TV show 10 Things I Hate about You.
The role will be played by Ethan just three years after the death of legendary actor Leonard Nimoy. Ethan has also got the approval from Nimoy's family to play the iconic character. While tweeting about his excitement, he said that Nimoy's family welcomed him with open arms and made him feel worthy of playing the role.
Thanks to the Nimoy family for your open arms, warm welcome, smiling curiosity and support, for making me feel worthy, as I embrace and take into my heart the iconic half alien we know as Mr. Spock. It is an incomparable honor. ?? #StarTrekDiscovery #LLAP pic.twitter.com/jEXG1T253Z

Alex Kurtzman, executive producer of Star Trek: Discovery, talked about how difficult it was to find an actor who could effortlessly play the role of Spock. "We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock's greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning", according to Daily Mail.
He continued to talk about Ethan and said, "Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock's legacy."
