SS Rajamouli's grand project Bahubali 2 (Baahubali-The Conclusion) has apparently forced Sanjay Leela Bhansali to hike up budget for his upcoming movie Padmavati.
It has been reported that after the makers of Bahubali 2 stunned all with its grandeur in terms of visual extravaganza, Bhansali wants Padmavati to match up to the level of the former. While the budget of Deepika Padukone-starrer Padmavati was initially Rs 160 crore, SLB has reportedly now increased it to Rs 200 crore.
Is this the reason why Sanjay Leela Bhansali is miffed with Deepika Padukone?
Bahubali 2 has reportedly been made with a budget of Rs 250 crore. If the movie Padmavati gets a budget of Rs 200 crore, it will be the highest for any Bollywood film.
"Baahubali is the new benchmark for epic grandeur. The Padmavati team is all set to amplify the grandiosity to a level where audiences would not miss the Baahubali experience," Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying.
Bahubali 2 has had an extraordinary start at the box office, breaking all records. The Prabhas-starrer has turned out to be the highest opening day grosser of all-time, and is all set to shatter many other box office records.
After the success of Bajirao Mastani, Bhansali is now busy making another period drama, which is based on the life of Rani Padmini. The filmmaker has proved his brilliance in period dramas with Bajirao Mastani, and Padmavati appears to be the only Bollywood movie that can be expected to reach the grandeur of Bahubali 2, if not exceed it. Nevertheless, only time will tell if Bhansali's Padmavati be able to match up to the level of Rajamouli's masterpiece.
Apart from Deepika playing the titular role, Padmavati also features Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Rawal Ratan Singh. The movie is slated for release on November 17.
