At a time when movies are struggling to have even a 50-day run at theatres, here is a movie made in Andhra Pradesh which is all set to complete 100 days in Tamil Nadu!
Well, we are talking about "Baahubali" featuring Telugu stars Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles. The movie, which was released on 10 July, will be completing 100 days on Sunday, 18 October.
Even in Chennai, "Baahubali" is being screend in limited theatres which are witnessing packed houses. Lyricist Madhan Karky confirmed the news on Twitter. "#Baahubali (Tamil) completes 100 days, with houseful shows today and tomorrow, in Chennai :) @ssrajamouli."
Upon release, "Baahubali" was showered with positive reviews from critics and audience in Tamil Nadu. In the opening weekend, the Telugu version outperformed the Tamil version. In the subsequent weeks, the Kollywood flick did extremely well and the combined gross from the two versions is about Rs 100 crore.
The multilingual movie, which has made over Rs 600 crore worldwide, has earned close to Rs 9 crore in Chennai alone. Indeed, it is the second highest-grossing movie in the Tamil Nadu capital after Vikram's "I".
"Baahubali" has been written by Vijayendra Prasad and directed by his son SS Rajamouli. Anushka Shetty and Tamanna Bhatia play the female leads in the flick. Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan are in key roles.
It is a two-part movie. The second instalment, "Baahubali – The Conclusion", is in the shooting process and likely to be released in 2016. Kannada actor Sudeep and Tamil actor Suriya are likely to play key roles in the second part of the movie.
