Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently busy shooting for Maneesh Sharma's "Fan", will soon start working on Rahul Dholakia's "Raees".
"Raees" faced much delay owing to the packed schedule of the superstar is finally ready to go on the floors by the end of February.
The story of "Raees" is set in the 1980s, in Ahmedabad. During an interview with DNA, Dholakia spilled some beans regarding Shah Rukh's character in the film.
"He plays a man from the ghetto in Gujarat. He dresses and speaks in a particular manner." said Dholakia. Currently, the makers are working on the superstar's accent and look.
There were rumours that in "Raees" Shah Rukh will play the role of a real life character. Reacting to the rumour, he said: "His character started off as a real-life person. But as we wrote and re-wrote several drafts of the script Shah Rukh's character become more and more fictional."
Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the film is based on the issue of Prohibition and since Gujarat is the only state in India that has Prohibition, the makers located their plot in the city.
But as a lot has changed in the city in terms of architecture and way of living, the team had to recreate certain areas of Ahmedabad in Mumbai Film City, representing decades-old lifestyle. Moreover, the "Happy New Year" actor has a huge fan following in the state, which would hamper the film's shoot.
"It's very practical and logical to not take Shah Rukh into the crowds. He is a star with a mammoth following. And he has a massive following in Gujarat. To shoot with him on the streets in Ahmedabad is not only impractical it's probably suicidal. I remember when we were shooting with Sanjay Dutt in Kashmirfor Lamha. Huge crowds would gather and obstruct the shooting." the director added.
