The official trailer of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" ("HNY") has been released in Tamil and Telugu.
"HNY" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. Its Hindi trailer was released a day prior to Independence Day and received fantastic response from fans. The trailer has fetched more than five lakh hits on YouTube.
Its Tamil and Telugu versions were released on Saturday, 16 August). The trailer is a colourful treat with song, dance, comedy and action. It will be interesting to see whether the dubbed versions will be able to impress the Tamil and Telugu-speaking audience.
Directed by Farah Khan, "HNY" has Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah (son of veteran bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah), Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles.
The action comedy entertainer is about six losers who take part in a dance competition and plot the world's biggest heist.
Expectations are huge for "HNY" considering the film's ensemble star cast. SRK and Deepika have teamed up for the third time post the success of "Om Shanti Om" and "Chennai Express," which is currently the fourth-highest-grossing bollywood film of all time.
"Chennai Express" did exceptionally well in South India. There will be huge expectations for "Happy New Year," which is set to release for Diwali in October. In the south, it will be clashing with two Tamil biggies, which are slated to hit the screens for the festival period.
Vijay's "Kaththi" and Vishal's"Poojai" will be locking horns with "HNY." There will be a huge clash between these films to grab enough number of screens. "Happy New Year" might find it difficult to get good screen count as the Tamil releases will be given preference by theatre owners.
The Telugu version will not be facing any competition from big releases as no Telugu films have been planned to release during that time.
"Happy New Year" is likely to take grand openings upon its release. It remains to be seen whether the film will be able to break "Chennai Express" record and emerge as one of the biggest hits of 2014.
