Allu Sirish's latest outing "Srirastu Subhamastu" has made a decent collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in three days and shattered the first weekend record of his last release "Kotha Janta".
"Srirastu Subhamastu" collected approximately Rs. 6.40 crore gross, while "Kotha Janta" had made Rs. 5 crore in opening weekend ticket sales. The movie is estimated to have earned Rs 3.61 crore for its distributors.
The Parasuram-directed romantic comedy, which released in over 300 screens on August 5, registered an average of 60 per cent occupancy. A decent amount of hype and promotions had helped register good advance booking.
Trade experts were initially bit sceptical as the film clashed with another big-ticket release "Manamantha", which marked Mohanlal's comeback to Tollywood.
The Allu Sirish and Lavanya Tripathi starrer had received mixed verdict, while "Manamantha" was praised by critics and audience. Trade experts predict that its collection would be affected by the word of mouth.
"Srirastu Subhamastu" was made with a whopping budget of Rs 7.50 crore. So far, it has also earned Rs 3.25 crore from sale of satellite rights.
Allu Aravind, who has produced the film under his banner Geetha Arts, has distributed it in most of the regions.
Early estimates show that "Srirastu Subhamastu" collected Rs 95 lakh at the AP/T box office till the third show on Monday.
