Mahesh Babu starrer "Srimanthudu" has turned out to be a money spinner for distributors. The Telugu film has made fantastic business at the domestic box office in five days.
The Telugu movie, which grossed over Rs. 60 crore worldwide in the opening weekend, has continued its dream run at theatres in the fifth day too. Due to bandh, many theatres started the shows at 1 pm on Tuesday, 11 August, but exhibitors ensured that the film had four shows in the day.
In the four days, the distributors' share was close to Rs. 31 crore from Andhra Pradesh. The early estimation says that it added another Rs. 3.54 crore to take its total tally to Rs. 34.5 crore. The total gross and net collection reports are not out as yet.
The buzz is that the response has been stable for "Srimanthudu". The good word-of-mouth has ensured great occupancy at theatres. The fantastic response is not just restricted to Telugu-speaking states, but also Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, "Srimanthudu" has emerged as the second biggest movie of the year in Tollywood after SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali". In just three days, Mahesh Babu's film broke the first week record of Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daaredi", which had collected Rs. 47.27 crore in seven days.
"Srimanthudu" can end up as the next best film at the Telugu box office after "Baahubali".
"Srimanthudu" is a Telugu drama written and directed by Koratala Siva. The Mahesh Babu-Shruti Haasan starrer has Jagapathi Babu, Sukanya, Rajendra Prasad, Sithara, Sampath Raj, Rahul Ravindran, Sanam Shetty and others in the cast.
