It is official. Boney Kapoor, husband of late Sridevi, is foraying into Kollywood by joining hands with Ajith Kumar. The movie is reportedly launched on Friday, December 14, following a simple event in Chennai.
A few photos of the muhurat function are doing rounds on social media sites. Apparently, the team has paid tribute to the late actress before starting the shooting of the Tamil flick, which is presently referred to as "Thala 59."
The untitled movie is a remake of hit Bollywood movie Pink, which had Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu playing the leads.
As per the reports, it was Sridevi's wish to produce a movie in Kollywood and discussion of funding a project with Ajith had happened when she was alive. To keep his word, the actor decided to do the project straightway which otherwise could have been delayed further, say rumour mills.
A section of media had speculated that Ajith gave the nod to work with Boney Kapoor to bail him out of financial crisis. In the last decade, the producer's financial condition has not been very bright. Hence, the actor decided to do his bit for the producer, as the Kapoors share a warm relation with Ajith's family.
The upcoming film is written and directed by H Vinoth. Other details about the flick are under wraps. The makers aim to release the film for next Diwali.
