The Sri Lanka cricket team are one of the more formidable teams in the tournament. Their coach is ex Sri Lankan player Marvan Atapattu and are ranked 4th in the ODI format. Sri Lanka have won the competition in 1996 and have reached the finals in two consecutive occasions. Though they have had a recent dip in form, they are not a team to be taken lightly. The team is captained by Angelo Matthews and kep players include Mahela Jayawardane, kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga.
