Former Indian pace bowler S Sreesanth on Thursday tied the knot with his girlfriend Bhuvaneshwari Kumari in a low-key ceremony in Kerala.
The marriage took place on Thursday morning at the famous Guruvayoor Sree Krishna temple according to traditional Kerala style. Sreesanth's and Bhuvaneshwari's families and close relatives attended the ceremony. The couple later headed to Sreesanth's home by car.
The reception will take place on Thursday evening at Le Meridian hotel in Kochi, according to reports.
Bhuvaneshwari is from a royal Jaipur family and is a jewellery designer by profession. The bride and her family arrived in Kerala on 8 December for marriage-related functions.
The pre-wedding ceremonies including Sangeet and Mehendi were held in a private hotel in Kochi.
Bhuvaneshwari and Sreesanth met each other six years ago during a cricket match in Jaipur have been in a relationship since then.
Sreesanth had announced his plans to marry Bhuvaneshwari earlier this year, before the match-fixing scandal emerged.
The former pace bowler was jailed in the spot-fixing case and was also banned by the BCCI. Bhuvaneshwari had stood by him through his tough times.
"She was faithful to him and did not hesitate to marry him even when severe allegations were levelled against him," a close friend of Sreesanth told India Today.
