Sreenivasan's "Nagara Varidhi Naduvil Njan" has been officially confirmed to be released on Christmas day, 25 December.
The upcoming movie is touted as a political satire and the story and direction of the film is done by Shibu Balan. He has been in the film industry for quite some time as assistant to eminent film maker, Sathyan Anthikkad.
The screenplay and the dialogues of the film are written by Sreenivasan and the actor will portray the character of a middle-class man, who finds it difficult to cope up with the city life and its polluted environment.
The team had earlier released a trailer, which has hinted the film to be a typical Sreenivasan movie with a satirical edge. The film will be a comic take on problems caused by pollution and is expected to take a dig at the existing political scenario in Kerala.
The film is also noted for actress Sangitha's return to the silver screen after a gap of 16 years. The actress had taken a break from acting after she married cinematographer Saravanan.
The return of Sreenivasan-Sangita combination have made news in the Malayalam film circles, as their last film together, "Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala", was an unparalleled success. The film, written and directed by Sreenivasan, is famous for its dialogues filled with pinches of satire and comedy. It had a star cast of Thilakan, Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Sudheesh and Siddique.
As per reports, Sangitha was reluctant to take up "Nagara Varidhi Naduvil Njan", but Sreenivasan instilled confidence in her to act after which she approved to do the role.
The film also has a star cast of Innocent, Manoj K Jayan, Lal, Sreejith Ravi, Vijay Raghavan, Prem Kumar, Joy Mathew, Dharmajan and Bheeman Raghu.
The cinematography of "Nagara Varidhi Naduvil Njan" is handled by Sameer Haq and editing by Ranjan Abraham. The music is composed by Govind Menon of "Thaikkudam Bridge" band and the lyrics are written by Engandiyoor Chandrasekharan.
The upcoming entertainer is produced by E4 Entertainments.
