The hype around Mahesh Babu's movie Spyder is clearly visible due to the massive response its first-look teaser has received from audience across the nation. In just over six hours, the video has amassed above 15 lakh hits, which is a huge number for a South Indian movie.
Early release
Released a little after 10 am on Thursday, the teaser of Spyder, which is written and directed by AR Murugadoss, came as a surprise as they were expecting it to be unveiled in the evening. Hence, it took over an hour till the news of its release fell into the ears of every internet-familiar fan of Mahesh Babu.
After a slow start, the Spyder went viral after 11.30 am and in a matter of a few hours, the teaser hit the 10 lakh mark. By 5 pm, it had garnered over 15 lakh views with 1.27 lakh likes and just over 10,000 dislikes.
What is in the teaser?
The teaser is centred around Mahesh Babu's character. A robotic spider, which looks like a gadget similar to the ones in James Bond films, crawls on the hero. The video does not reveal anything, yet it has impressed the audience.
The background score by Harris Jayaraj combined with Mahesh Babu's look has taken the viewers by a storm.
Bioterrorism subject
Spyder is said to revolve around bioterrorism. "Mahesh Babu plays an Intelligence Bureau officer who takes on infectious agents with the help of hi-end technology. The film is very high on action and it features Mahesh in his most sophisticated avatar yet," a source from the film's unit told IANS.

Mahesh Babu is bowled over by the gargantuan response that he has received for Spyder teaser from the fans. Thanking them, he tweeted, "A big Thankyou to each and every one of you for the overwhelming response for #GlimpseofSPYDER :) [sic]"
