The Mumbai police have arrested a production boy who has been accused of stalking actress Shruti Haasan.
The accused, Ashok Shankar Trimukhe, who works as a spot boy at the Mumbai Film city, was arrested from Dharavi area on Saturday. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354D (stalking), reported The Hindu.
On Tuesday (19 November), a stalker tried to barge into Shruti's Bandra residence at around 9.30 am. when she attended the door. The stalker allegedly tried to grab her throat and strangle her. Shruti managed to push him away and slammed the door. The stalker hurt his hand and ran away.
Shruti, daughter of veteran actor Kamal Haasan, filed a police complaint on Thursday, two days after the incident happened. Based on the complaint, Trimukhe was arrested. According to police, the accused claimed it was a misunderstanding. He reportedly told the cops that he met Shruti to seek a job for his brother after he came to know that a member of Shruti's family, who is a fashion designer, was looking for people to do office work.
"He claims he was scared of being misunderstood and even informed the building watchman before leaving. We found he had also mentioned his correct name in the guest's diary," a cop told Mid Day.
Trimukhe has reportedly been working in the film industry for over 18 years and has been a member of the Film Studio Union. He will be produced before the Bandra holiday court on Sunday.
