As Tata Motors continues to test its upcoming compact SUV Nexon on Indian roads, a new set of spy images of the model has emerged online, this time showing the compact SUV with automated manual transmission (AMT). Tata Nexon, which is built on the heavily-modified Tata X1 platform of the Indica, is expected to be launched in India this year.
Snapped by MotorOctane, the latest spy images of the Nexon show the interiors of the compact SUV with an AMT gearbox. Both petrol and diesel variants of the Nexon are expected to get AMT boxes. If this rings true, the Nexon will be the third offering in the compact SUV segment in India to come equipped with AMT. Although it was said earlier that the Nexon would make its entry into the market only in 2017, recent reports had indicated the compact SUV would be launched before the arrival of the Kite 5 compact sedan. Tata Kite 5 is expected to be launched during the festive season of this year.
The Nexon is expected to include a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. When launched, the Nexon compact SUV will rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford's EcoSport. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs.10 lakh.
Tata had showcased Nexon at the Auto Expo 2016 along with the company's other future product range including the soon-to-be-launched Tiago, the Kite 5 compact sedan and the Hexa.
