Southern actress Swarna Thomas, who suffered multiple injuries after falling from the fourth floor of her apartment in Kerala, is on ventilator support at a private hospital.
On Wednesday (19 June), the actress was at home in Elamakkara, Kochi, after shooting for a song sequence in a Malayalam film. She was standing at the balcony of her fourth floor apartment. She felt dizzy, slipped and fell from the balcony. The freak accident is said to have occurred at around 7.30 pm, according to a close relative of the actress.
Swarna was rushed to a private hospital where she was treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) for fractures on her pelvis and spine. She is currently on ventilator support, according to hospital authorities.
"Only Swarna and her mother were at home then. The girl had fever. They were having tea and watching a TV programme on her film. Her mother did not notice Swarna going to the balcony. It was only when a girl from downstairs came up and told her that Swarna had fallen down that she came to know about the accident," the relative was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
"The floor was also wet on the balcony. She fell unconscious after a few minutes. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and later to the Medical Trust Hospital," the relative said.
The 18-year-old budding Malayalam actress became popular through dance reality show "Super Dance Junior 2" and has also taken part in other reality shows. Swarna was seen in a film titled "Flat No.4B" and has been working in two upcoming films including "Buddy" and "Pranayakadha." She will also make her debut in Tamil film "Vetri Selvan", starring Ajmal Ameer and Radhika Apte in lead roles.
