Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" is in the news for all the interesting tidbits about the film.
The film has some south connections starting from the title (which has "Chennai" in it) to Deepika Padoukone's (female lead) role and the presence of several south artists. It is known that Deepika appears as a Tamil speaking woman. This is the second time that Deepika stars with Shah Rukh. She made her debut in "Om Shanti Om" alongside King Khan.
In a first, legendary singer S P Balasubraniam has crooned for Shah Rukh.
Latest buzz is that Tollywood heartthrob Mahesh Babu is all set to do a cameo in "Chennai Express". If the reports are to be believed, this would be the first Bollywood film in which Mahesh would be making his presence.
However, this is not the first time for popular south actors to do cameos in Hindi. For instance, Shah Rukh Khan's "Ra One" film had superstar Rajinikanth making a special appearance. The science fiction film had the superstar appearing as andro humonoid robot Chitti (a character that he played in his film "Robot" aka "Endhiran").
The inclusion of Rajini's cameo helped the makers to promote the film in the south, as the actor enjoys a massive fan following there. If the reports of Mahesh Babu's cameo in "Chennai Express" are true, then it would greatly help in promoting the film down south. Actress Priya Mani has done an item number with Shah Rukh.
The shooting of "Chennai Express" has been wrapped up and the post production would begin once Shah Rukh recuperates from a surgery that he underwent on Tuesday for a fracture on his left shoulder, which he sustained during the shooting of the film.
Directed by Rohit Shetty of "Golmaal" fame, the action-comedy film is all set to have a grand release on 8 August (Eid). The film will clash with Akshay Kumar-Imran Khan starrer "Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2" at the box office.
