Southern actress Namitha, who is known for her glamorous appearances in films, is all set to join politics.
The actress herself has confirmed the news to a leading daily. It appears that the actress has been approached by three parties, but she is yet to decide on the party that she would join. "Three parties have accorded me a warm welcome, but I am yet to decide which one to be a part of," Namitha told Times of India.
The actress has also revealed that she is likely to contest in the ensuing parliamentary elections from Tamil Nadu. She is expected to soon start campaigning for the party that she would join.
Namitha, who began her film career in 2002, soon rose to fame with her glamorous appeal. The actress began her Tamil film career with Vijayakanth's "Engal Enna" and became famous through the "Arjuna Arjuna" song in "Aai." Since then, there was no looking back for the actress as she went on starring in several Tamil films. She has also done a few Telugu and Kannada films.
However, the actress has not been active in films for the last few years. She has been making appearances in a few television shows on popular channels.
Now, we hear that the "Aai" actress has shifted her focus to politics. But, Namitha has revealed that she will not entirely quit films, but will wait and choose the right scripts.
"As of now, I am not doing too many movies. That's because I want to concentrate on my political career. I want to be more selective about my scripts. Gone are the days when I went about doing any movie with any subject and character. It's high time I choose my scripts carefully," she told the daily.
