Japanese electronics major Sony is reportedly working on a mid-range smartphone dubbed as Xperia ZR, featuring similar specs of its high-end sibling Xperia Z sans the physical form.
Sony community website XperiaBlog has revealed that the new Xperia ZR codenamed Dogo will sport a 4.6-inch HD 720x1280p display powered by a Qualcomm quad-core processor with 1.5 GHz CPU speed and also boast a water and dust repellant body case with higher resistant rating than Xperia Z.
Xperia ZR can sustain underwater depth up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes compared to Xperia which can function up to 1 meter depth.
The website also claimed that Xperia ZR will sport an impressive 13.0-megapixel camera with Sony's exclusive Exmor RS camera lens technology and it is expected to house 2GB RAM, 8GB memory with microSD support for further expansion.
However, there is no word about when the Japanese electronics major would launch this mid-range smartphone. Earlier this month, Sony launched Xperia SP in India for ₹25,500.
