Sony's rugged water and dust-resistant flagship smartphone Xperia ZR finally went on sale at online stores on Saturday.
Popular e-commerce sites Flipkart and Saholic have begun selling the Xperia ZR sales for ₹29,000, whereas other retailers- India Times Shopping is currently taking preorders. Infibeam has listed the smartphone but the sales are yet to begin.
Xperia ZR sports a 4.6-inch TFT screen with HD (720x1280p) Reality and BRAVIA Engine 2 display technologies and pixel density of 319 ppi (pixels per inch).
The Sony phone runs on Android mobile OS v4.1.2 Jelly Bean powered by a 1.GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro qua-core processor with Adreno 320 graphics engine.
Sony Xperia ZR boasts of IP55(Water-proof) and IP58(Dust-resistant) certifications. It can record Full HD video for 30 minutes under water for up to five feet, a notch up compared to its elder sibling Xperia Z which can only take snapshots under 3.3 feet of water.
Considering the price-tag and hardware specifications, Xperia ZR is expected to give a stiff fight to the recently launched LG-Google Nexus 4 which also falls in the same price bracket.
