You could be in for a disappointment if you are one of those waiting for the release of Sony Xperia Z6, as it is may not see the light of the day. Reports have emerged that the Japanese technology giant has killed the Xperia Z series.
Sony Mobile has confirmed that the company has decided to discontinue the Xperia Z series and concentrate on other brandings like the Xperia X series.
"The Xperia Z line has reached its culmination – Xperia X series represents a new chapter and evolution of our product strategy. Whilst the Xperia Z series was all about bringing the best of Sony's advanced technologies to smartphones, Xperia X series is based on bringing smart, adaptive Sony user experiences across camera, battery performance and hardware / software design," said Sony Mobile in a statement obtained by XperiaBlog.
The report comes after uSwitch claimed that Jun Makino, senior product marketing manager at Sony Mobile, had revealed the killing of the Xperia Z series.
"I can't comment on the future, but we will not be releasing a Z6," Jun Makino told uSwitch when asked if Sony is releasing more devices from the Xperia Z family.
The Xperia Z5 will be the last device from the Xperia Z family if Sony discontinues the series.
Sony floated the Xperia X series at the on-going Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC 2016), unveiling three devices under the family -- Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA.
Maybe Sony will concentrate on the Xperia X and other new brandings after discontinuing the Xperia Z family.
