Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact finally hit stores in America

Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has officially released the much awaited flagship Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in the USA.

"Building a stable business in the U.S. market continues to be an important area of focus in helping Sony Mobile pursue profit by optimizing business scale. We are excited about the introduction of Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact unlocked in the U.S., particularly as we see a growing trend in the unlocked market," Kunihiko Shiomi, president, Sony Mobile Communications North America, said in a blogpost. 

Sony originally unveiled the Xperia Z5 series at IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2015 in September and they are now finally being made available in the US.

But here's is the catch. Sony, for reasons unknown, is selling Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact models without finger-print sensor, which is present in devices sold in international markets. There is also no word on when Sony plans to release top-end variant Xperia Z5 Premium with 4K display in America.

Xperia Z5 sports 5.2-inch full HD display and houses Snapdragon 810 processor, backed by 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory and a 2900mAh battery.

It also comes with top-notch 23MP camera hardware boasting proprietary Sony Exmor RS for mobile sensor, Hybrid Auto Focus 0.03 sec, 5 x Clear Image Zoom and a wide-angle 5MP snapper on the front. [full camera details below].

On the other hand, Z5 Compact features smaller 4.6-inch HD screen and comes packed with Snapdragon 810 processor, backed by 2GB RAM 32GB inbuilt memory and a 2700mAh battery.

Camera specification of Z5 Compact is same as the flagship model.
